This watercolor vest will add a pop of color to any of your minimalistic, academic-looking outfits💛☕ It’s designed to sit at the waist while staying loose and comfortable everywhere else. You can easily pair it with high-waisted jeans or skirts.
The pattern is named after the yarn I used. It has a saturated palette with smooth color changes. It creates an artistic watercolor-looking effect without any complex colorwork. This vest will definitely bring some warmth and personality to your outfits while remaining subtle and wearable🌟🎨
A little fun coincidence: after wearing this vest for a while, I noticed that its colors are surprisingly similar to the palette of the Project Hail Mary movie album cover! I definitely didn’t plan it that way — the vest was made long before the movie came out🚀 Now I’m even more proud to wear it, knowing it has a not-so-hidden reference to one of my favourite books/movies.

The size guide PDF should be read first to ensure the best fit. It includes measurements in both centimeters and inches.
📏Sizes included: XS-S / M / L-XL / 2X-3X
🧶Materials and tools
- 4-6 skeins of la mia wolly socks yarn, color L07 (In case you can’t find it, look for a similar Sock weight yarn. The yarn I used is 210m/50g, 1,75oz/229yds, 75% wool and 25% polyamide),
- 4mm hook (slightly bigger than recommended for this yarn),
- scissors,
- needle (optional),
- stitch markers.
⚙Skill level – confident beginner / intermediate. You should be familiar with basic crochet stitches and know what a front post double crochet (fpdc) stitch is (it’s really easy to learn). Also the pattern includes a step-by-step guide with photos for crocheting a chainless foundation row.
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. Stitches used:
- ch – chain,
- slst – slip stitch,
- sc – single crochet,
- dec – decrease,
- hdc – half double crochet,
- dc – double crochet,
- fpdc – front post double crochet,
- tr – treble crochet.
